The mission of the Honors Program at Minnesota State University, Mankato is to create future leaders, researchers and global citizens by providing high ability and motivated students with exceptional learning opportunities, mentoring relationships, and a community of scholars that foster their development as future leaders in a global society.
This is a personalized learning plan that contains my goals for the 2016-2017 school year.
I had the opportunity to co-introduce the author of the Common Read book, When the Emperor was Divine, at an event hosted by the university in October of 2016. This experience helped me grow in all three competencies. I conducted research on the author to write my introduction, worked as a team with a fellow honors student and the school librarians, and learned about the culture of Japanese Americans during World War II.
I met with my advisor in the business college before registering for my spring 2017 semester classes. Over the course of the appointment I was able to to get a better handle on what my future at MSU will look like and how to achieve the goals I have set for myself.
